Sangria Salvia Flower Seeds

SKU: SFS-SAL-SAN-ER
Our ‘Sangria’ Salvia Flower seed is a stunning Scarlet Salvia destined to become a customer favorite. Having greenish-white bracts, the blossoms emerge sangria-red atop large and flamboyantly-leafed foliage. Sangria is more shade-tolerant than many cultivars, actually preferring a spot with afternoon sun in the hottest climes. What a way to brighten up a partially shaded bed or patio! This Mealycup Sage is like none you’ve ever seen before! We absolutely love it and we’re pretty sure you will too! Approximately 50 seeds per each hand-filled packet. More details...

Sangria Salvia Flower Seeds

Salvia Flower Seeds can be directly sown into your flower bed and/or vegetable garden, or started indoors in a seed tray with planting medium so as to get a head start on the growing season and have earlier blossoms on your plants. Plants started indoors should be started 6 to 8 weeks before the expected last frost date for your area and then transplanted after all danger of frost has passed and after the first true leaves appear. Salvia flower seeds vary, but as a whole, their germination is aided by light. Either scatter the seeds upon the soil and don’t cover, or cover only lightly and then water just as lightly so the seeds do not penetrate too deeply into the soil. We recommend using vermiculite to cover the seeds lightly, rather than using soil or not covering at all, this lightweight planting medium allowing light to penetrate while keeping the seeds in place long enough to put down roots.  At soil temperatures of about 70 to 75°F, germination will normally take 10 to 15 days.
