Lophospermum Plants

You may know the 'Lophospermum' plant as the Creeping Gloxinia or the Mexican Twist. An amazingly fast growing hanging or climbing vine, the blossoms are large, deeply trumpeted flowers measuring about 3-inches long and 2-inches wide. Normally in shades of rose and mauve, new varieties are being developed in darker hues. The Losphospermum has huge, serrated, somewhat fuzzy leaves of a sage-green color whose muted coloring only makes the bloom colors "pop" more.

Lophospermum, pronounced low-fo-SPUR-mum, are heat-tolerant and resistant to disease and pests. Remarkably easy to grow, they lend themselves well to beautifying old fences, crumbling brick or stone walls and waking up tired old window or deck boxes. They perform just as well in containers, so go a little crazy. You’ll absolutely love 'em!
