Pansy Flower Seeds

Our Pansy Flower Seeds are some of the best pansy seeds; pansies being one of those flowers that don’t readily or easily germinate. Old seed (older than 9 months), for example, will have little to no results, while fresh seed can still have a low germination rate, even when being grown by professionals. However, when compared to the high price of bedding plants, once you’ve perfected your process, growing pansies from seed will be easier and very rewarding, since not everyone is highly successful. Pat yourself on the back if you succeed with a germination rate above 50%!

Pansies are a cool-weather flower, available in cultivars of different color combinations and also sold according to the size of the blossom. Large pansies will have blossoms 3 to 4-inches in diameter; medium will be 2 to 3-inches and multiflora will be 1 to 2-inches. They are remarkably cold-hardy, thriving in cool southern winter months, even going dormant and then flushing out and blooming again in some colder climates. Pansies also have a very recognizable fragrance, though that will depend upon the cultivar. Some growers swear the yellow and blue colors have a stronger fragrance and will only grow those colors or plant plenty of those with others not considered as fragrant. Planting pansies en masse, in beds or in grouped containers will ensure concentration of that fantastic aroma. All annual bedding plants require adequate nutrition in order to produce an abundance of blossoms. A slow release fertilizer is best, ensuring a healthy balance while not over-indulging with nitrogen, making the plants leggy and less floriferous. In order to meet the nutritional needs of your pansies, in the container or in the ground, we recommend regular feeding with Jungle Flora or Espoma Flower-tone®, both of which are approved for organic gardening, are formulated specifically for blooming plants and are safe for use around your family and pets, as well as being safe for the environment.

Colossus Mix Pansy Flower Seeds

Our ‘Colossus Mix’ Pansy Flower Seed yields a giant pansy with blossoms measuring 3 1/2 to 4-inches across with exceptional performance, fantastic branching, shorter internodes and tight and dense foliage. The Colossus Mix will be a random mixture of yellows, whites, blues, purples and reds, some with bicolored and tricolored blossoms, blooming in 80 to 85 days from sowing. Delta Blotch Mix Pansy Flower Seeds

Our ‘Delta™ Blotch Mix’ Pansy Flower Seed blooms even earlier than the Colossus Mix, normally 75 to 80 days after sowing, producing blossoms 3 to 3 1/2-inches in diameter and with what is considered to be outstanding performance in the heat, a definite plus for those in warmer climes. The Delta Blotch Mix includes colors in blue, red, purple, white and yellow, all with royal purple blotches blending with the background color to create a palette of incredible color! Delta pansies are known for their uniformity of habit, their early flowering, free-flowering and continuous flowering, even under low light. Delta also has exceptional heat tolerance, ensuring long lasting color, every shade from brightest white to creamy, pastel yellow to the richest gem-tones, some with blotches, some without and some with faces and some without. Our ‘Delta™ White’ Pansy Flower Seed produces one of the best white pansies you can find. With all the positive attributes the Delta series brings, these white blossoms will bloom earlier, bloom larger, bloom in concert with others in the Delta series and will continue to bloom even in extreme heat and low light. The short, stout stems even ensure they look pretty following severe weather. These white, lightly ruffled blossoms may look frail, but they can definitely hold their own! Majestic Giants II Mix Pansy Flower Seeds

Our ‘Majestic Giants II Mix’ Pansy Flower Seed can bloom up to 10 days earlier than its predecessor, but with the same large blossoms, measuring up to 4-inches across, and with a variety of colors, both blotched and not, faced and not, some of which even have white rims. In this mixture, you will find some of the more unusual colors, like orangey-fiery-red and light celery-green. On Majestic II’s compact and sturdy plants, when in full bloom, you may not be even to see the rich green foliage! Approximately 25 seeds per each hand-filled packet.
