Ornamental Corn Flower Seeds

Our Ornamental Corn Flower Seeds are one of the most easily grown ornamental grasses, especially from seed. Growing up to 10-feet tall, ornamental corn can be planted directly into your garden after the last frost date for your area, once the soil is warm.

Ornamental Corn is one of the best ornamental grasses for beginning gardeners and children. Corn seeds have a high germination rate, germinate quickly and mature quickly, making it fun and instantly gratifying. Ornamental corn is grown for fall decoration, the stalks and ears being used, but also as a natural summertime screen due to its height. Your intended use can dictate the distance between stalks, which can be as little as 4 to 6-inches or as much as you want. Ornamental corn will benefit from regular feeding and though no actual flowers are produced, the ears take the same amount of energy to grow as any blossoming plant. We recommend regular feeding with Espoma Flower-tone® or Jungle Flora, both of which are approved for organic gardening, are formulated for blooming plants and are safe for use around your family and pets, as well as being safe for the environment.

Each order of our fresh Ornamental Corn seeds is filled by hand, put into a resealable plastic bag and then placed into a labeled seed packet. It is our goal to provide our customers the best in freshness and quality.

Our ‘Field of Dreams’ Ornamental Corn Flower Seed is a highly variegated variety, having different widths of green and cream-colored stripes, the leaves often liberally washed with rosy hues. Growing 4 to 5-feet tall, the ears produced on this ornamental corn, also called Zea mays, are dark, plump and red, making them a wonderful fall decoration. The surprise is that they can also be popped and are fantastic for eating or stringing on your Christmas tree! Approximately 25 seeds per each hand-filled packet.
