Oregano-Dittany of Crete Herb Plant

SKU: GR-HE-OREDC-MM
The 'Oregano-Dittany of Crete' herb plant is a rare herb that only grows wild on the steep hillsides and mountain gorges of the Greek island of Crete. Known there as Diktamo or Hop Marjoram, it is a tender perennial in some climates and is not only grown for its healing properties, but is also used to treat digestive problems, arthritis and rheumatism. Additionally, Dittany of Crete is highly fragrant and is used for making incense and perfume. A uniquely beautiful herb, trailing clusters of pink to purple blossoms with deep lilac corollas and vivid pink overlapping bracts sit atop wooly, grayish sage green leaves. Dittany of Crete is often planted as a border plant or accent in mixed plantings and is well-suited to container growing. Brew an herbal tea for internal use or make a poultice for healing wounds. This herb has been tested and classed as an analgesic, antiseptic, anesthetic, anti-inflammatory, anti-rheumatic, bactericidal, expectorant and fungicidal by the International Plant Genetic Resources Institute in Vallezano-Bari, Italy. Each pot contains 1 herb plant. More details...
