Tropical Ferns are grown in almost all parts of the country, either as a hanging plant, in a tall planter or on a pedestal. As the name implies, tropical ferns will only grow outdoors, in the ground, in a tropical climate like Florida or the warmest regions of the Gulf Coast states.
Tropical Ferns seem to be perceived as a “comfort” plant, probably because you can’t help but think of a tropical paradise when looking at a tropical fern. The fronds move in the slightest breeze and have a singular appearance when drenched with moisture as water droplets roll from their delicate foliage. They are also some of the “oldest” plants in creation, thriving in the wild when the earth had a much different climate. Hang them outdoors to decorate covered patios and entryways, moving them indoors for all but late spring, summer and early fall.
