Dracaena Flower Seeds produce a tropical, spiky-looking plant you may recognize as a popular house plant. Many container gardeners have discovered their versatility when it comes to adding height and unusual texture to their combination plantings, which has also lead to those in more temperate climates putting them right into the ground, especially along foundations or walls, where the additional radiated heat seems to help them survive what was previously thought un-survivable. Dracaena, pronounced druh-SEE-nuh, is sometimes simply called “Spikes”, or may also be known as Dragon Tree or Madagascar Dragon Tree. The Dracaena will tolerate all morning sun well, though adjustments may have to be made in the afternoon depending upon where you live. Partial or full shade may be necessary during the hottest days of the summer or where it is warmest, like Arizona. Slow growers, it can take up to 5-months for husky, 4 to 5-inch plants to develop. This is exactly what makes them so attractive for long-term containers though. You can change out annuals around your existing Dracaena, changing the look with the seasons, and then move the Dracaena indoors for the winter. They are actually quite festive with draped mini-lights! As always, we highly recommend a slow release, organic fertilizer. Neptune’s Harvest is a good choice, aiding in germination and encouraging development of a healthy root system. Liquid fertilizers tend to provide the most consistent and even feeding. Jungle Flora is also a good choice. Feed bimonthly if in containers with other plants and monthly if growing alone. Each order of our fresh Dracaena seeds is filled by hand, put into a resealable plastic bag and then placed into a labeled seed packet. It is our goal to provide our customers the best in freshness and quality. |
