All Blue Potato

The All Blue Potato is also known as Congo, Blue Marker, Russian Blue, British Columbia Blue, McIntosh Black, River John Blue, Sharon's Blue, Purple Marker and at least a dozen other names. An heirloom variety, it is suspected that the All Blue originated in the U.S. and Scotland in the late nineteenth century. Purple stems, dark green leaves and blue flowers with purplish longitudinal stripes rise on tall, robust plants. If a potato can be called pretty, All Blue would be the one. More purple than blue, the flesh is also that signature color, surrounded by a thin white strip just under the skin and a snowy white center. When boiled the flesh turns light blue. They are moist and delish.

The All Blue seed potato matures in 90 to 110 days.
