Torenia Flower Seeds |

Torenia Flower seeds are a relative to the snapdragon, though they seem to be from the high-falutin’ side of town, having wonderful velvety texture, amazing coloration and a unique form that makes it look as if these blossoms are all singing in concert! Conversely, you can also argue they are quite comical-looking, giving rise to its “other” common name, the Clown Flower. Torenia, pronounced tor-EE-nee-ah, is most often called the Wishbone Flower, the reason being the way the anthers arch inwards, being joined at the tip when the blossoms first open, looking very much like a wishbone, but then being broken by visiting bees as they pollinate the blossoms. Now I wonder what those bees wish for! Ideal for hanging baskets and containers, most varieties will have a slight to moderate trailing habit and will bloom profusely starting early in the season and continuing until the first frost, even with only minimal deadheading. And while the flowers are extraordinarily different, the oval, narrow leaves plays along, being a bit hairy and a touch sticky, and often a combination of both. As all blooming flowers expend a lot of energy, we recommend regular feeding with Jungle Flora or Espoma Flower-tone®, both of which are approved for organic gardening and are safe for your family, pets, livestock and water habitats, as well as being specially formulated for blooming plants. Each order of our fresh Torenia seeds is filled by hand, put into a resealable plastic bag and then placed into a labeled seed packet. It is our goal to provide our customers the best in freshness and quality. |
