Pacific Giant Mix Delphinium Flower Seeds

Fresh Delphinium Seed goes dormant fairly quickly. Break the dormancy by putting the seed in your freezer for at least 24 hours prior to sowing. Delphinium can be directly sown or started indoors. Germinating best at soil temperatures between 55 to 75°F, higher temperatures will greatly reduce or eliminate germination. If you have an early heat wave; start your Delphinium indoors. The lighter and looser the growing medium, the better; Delphinium greatly appreciative of compost or manure worked into the first 2 to 4-inches of your ground soil. Soil should be cultivated to 12 to 15-inches deep in total. Plant about 1/8-inch deep and cover lightly, keeping the top of the soil moist, making sure not to overwater. Cutting them back after the first bloom will almost always result in a fall bloom.
