Organic Rouge D'Hiver Lettuce Seed produces an extremely beautiful French heirloom from the 1800s. This Romaine variety has large, flat, broad leaves that are sweet with a buttery texture. The color varies from green to bronze to deep red, with the deeper reds occurring when the nights turn cool. Ideal for baby leaf, harvested when young and tender, the full-sized heads are also quite stunning and flavorful. This variety does particularly well in the fall and is tolerant of light frost. Organic Rouge D'Hiver Lettuce Seed

Lettuce seeds, of any variety, tend to be quite small and not easily dispersed. Proper spacing can be achieved more easily with one of our garden seeders, the result being that you won’t have to thin quite as many plants.


  • Seed Spacing: 3" apart, thin to 8"-10"
  • Row Spacing: 18"
  • Days to Harvest: 28-30 for baby leaf, 55-65 to full maturity
