Our Organic Moon and Stars Yellow Watermelon Seed is an heirloom variety from the early 1900s, originally hailing from Georgia, though it is believed that this rare looking melon was shipped from Bermuda to the southern states, usually around Christmastime; its origins may, in fact, be tropical. Not quite as sweet as other Moon and Stars melons, the yellowy-orange, sometimes pinkly hued, flesh with white seeds is plenty sweet enough, while the rind is just something special. Moon and Stars Yellow is considered a good keeper, has great texture and is drought and disease resistant. These 15 to 35-pound watermelons will make the fanciest looking Watermelon Rind Pickles. You can use any pickling spice, adding your own allspice, cinnamon, sugar and cloves, or you can use Mrs. Wages Sweet Pickle Mix and make it easy on yourself!
