Our Myosotis Flower Seeds can be grown as an annual, biennial or short-lived perennial with a diffuse root system and Velcro-like seed pods that travel by attaching themselves to clothing or fur and then falling off, sometimes in the ideal site for germination. That ideal site will be in wetlands or along partially shaded riverbanks, where the conditions for germination are maximized. You will, no doubt, call them by their common name, Forget-me-nots. In shady, wooded, moist areas, you will find they readily reseed, coming back year after year, making them an exceptional naturalizing ground cover. Myosotis, pronounced my-oh-SO-tiss, is derived from the Greek for “mouse’s ear” after the leaves, which are shaped similarly with fuzzy edges. We think the petals of each of the tiny five-petalled blossoms look like mouse ears as well. These elfin blue, pink or white blossoms have had a long colorful history of being synonymous with remembering both sad and happy events, from fallen war heroes to their use as bouquets to and from loved ones and in the baskets of flower girls. In your garden or containers, the Forget-me-not will prefer consistent moisture and will thrive best in partial shade. All blooming plants require feeding in order to be at their best; it takes a lot of energy to produce those fantastic blossoms. We highly recommend Espoma Flower-tone® or Jungle Flora, both of which are approved for organic gardening, are formulated for blooming plants and are safe for use around your family and pets, as well as being safe for the environment. Each order of our fresh Myosotis seeds is filled by hand, put into a resealable plastic bag and then placed into a labeled seed packet. It is our goal to provide our customers the best in freshness and quality. |
