Water tree well before placing spikes so they are easier to apply. For a trunk that is 1 to 2 foot in diameter place 3 spikes evenly around the tree at the end of the longest branches. Hammer (a rubber sledge hammer works best) evenly into the ground, remove the cap and continue hammering until about 2” below the surface. For the healthiest trees and shrubs insert new Jobe's Fruit & Citrus Tree Fertilizer Spikes every 60 days. The best time to apply is early spring and late fall.
