Cooler Strawberry Vinca Flower Seeds

SKU: SFS-VIN-COOS-ER
Our ‘Cooler Strawberry’ Vinca Flower seed yields the Cooler Series’ signature pinwheel-type blossoms, but with a twist; these flowers are slightly ruffled. The color too is a surprise, as rather than being solidly saturated, they are striated and splashed with pink, from lush rose to pastel coral. This Madagascar Periwinkle may “berry” well become a customer favorite! Approximately 50 seeds per each hand-filled packet. More details...

Cooler Strawberry Vinca Flower Seeds

Vinca flower seeds require complete darkness and warm, consistent soil temperatures in order to germinate. We highly recommend the use of seed trays and a temperature mat set at a constant 75 to 78°F, and starting the seeds 10 to 12-weeks before the last frost date for your area. Water the soil mixture in the seed trays until it is moist all the way to the bottom. Placing 3 or 4 vinca seeds on top of the soil, cover them with another 1/4-inch of your growing medium and tamp gently. Use a spray bottle to moisten the top of the soil until it appears visibly wet. Then, insert the entire seed tray into a black trash bag or otherwise cover in order to block all light and place on top of the heating mat. Germination will normally take 1 to 2 weeks, at which time you can uncover the tray and place it in bright sunlight, watering the soil only when it is completely dry to the touch. 10 days after removing the cover is a good time for their first feeding. Most gardeners tout the benefits of transplanting the seedlings to 2 1/2-inch peat pots when they are about 2-inches tall, placing the pots back into a sunny location, allowing them to develop a more robust root system before giving them their permanent home. When exterior soil temperatures reach a consistent 65°F, you can transplant them into your bed.
