Climax Timothy Grass Seed

climax timothy bunch grass seed for saleClimax Timothy Seed is a leafy, fine-stemmed, tall perennial bunch grass that has been used widely in both Canada and the U.S., since 1947. High yielding, high quality and rust resistant, Climax Timothy matures 7 to 10 days later than most common varieties, giving that leeway often necessary for more favorable climatic conditions for field curing. This also makes it an ideal grass for late-spring grazing, though care should be taken to control grazing to 3 or 4-inches. Climax Timothy is oftentimes selectively grazed due to its very palatable flavor, soon disappearing when planted with species your livestock considers not so palatable. Used primarily for hay mixes in the U.S., Climax Timothy grass is well-adapted to high elevations and to areas with an average rainfall of 18 inches or more.


The recommended seeding rate for Climax Timothy Seed is 10 to 12 pounds per acre if planted alone, and 2 to 6 pounds per acre when mixed with other grasses or legumes. The exception is when sowing a new seeding with a predominantly alfalfa field. The recommended seeding rate then is no more than 1.5 pounds per acre.
