Our ‘Chief Mix’ Celosia Flower Seed yields one of the tallest Celosia cristata cockscomb plants, growing up to 40-inches tall with some of the most rooster-like combs you’ll find in this genus. The “combs” rise above the foliage, showing off the bottom of the comb more than many varieties, adding to the overall height. You will also find that leaf colors have gone through some changes with the Chief Mix, combining with blossom colors for a stunning display. Along with bicolor red-gold, gold and rose, you will also appreciate fire, which is dark red with green foliage; persimmon, which is orangey-scarlet; and red, which is dark red with bronze leaves. Chief Mix Celosia Flower Seeds

As celosia seed and weed seeds tend to germinate at about the same time, it is suggested that you start seedlings in individual cells indoors. One of our seed starting kits or germination stations will ensure the best results due to the controlled habitat. Celosia seedlings started indoors will have a better chance of survival when competing with the potential weeds. Lightly cover the seeds with soil and keep consistently moist. If planting outside, nighttime temperatures should be between 60 and 70°F with daytime temps between 80 and 85°F. We also recommend a plant and seed blanket to provide adequate, consistent humidity and to maintain temperatures. Plant seeds in the ground 4-6” apart, thinning to 8-12”.
