Organic Onion Seed

Each packet of Organic Onion Seed has approximately 400 seeds. Each plant produces approximately 1-pound of fresh onion.


Onions prefer a soil pH of 6 to 7.5. A handy soil tester takes the guess work out of knowing your soil pH. Most often, onion seeds are sown in the month of October, giving you a great start for your spring and summer crop, but many growers start them under a cloche, tunnel cover or in a cold frame.

Our Organic Borettana Cipollini Onion Seed is a gourmet Italian onion that commands a hefty price at specialty markets. Incredibly sweet, the flavor is mild and well-developed. These flat, button-shaped, light brown-skinned onions grow to between 1 and 3-inches in diameter and about 1-inch in depth, dependent upon how close together they are planted. Also called Cipollini Brown or Cipollini Yellow, this is a long day onion suitable for colder climates. Perfect for shish kebobs, stews, grilling, salads and pickling, they will store well up to 4-months. Approximately 400 seeds per packet.

Our Organic Texas Early Grano Onion Seed was released by the Texas Agricultural Experimental Station in 1944, but is the result of a Texas onion breeding program that started in 1933. The Texas Early Grano is in the parentage of such super-sweet, well-known onions as Vidalia, Maui Maui and NoonDay. Forming nice, large, globe-shaped, Vidalia-type onions, the flesh is uniformly white with a sweet, mildly pungent flavor. This short day heirloom is ideal for warmer southern and western climates. Approximately 400 seeds per packet.
