Organic Kohlrabi Seed

Each packet of Certified Organic Kohlrabi Seed has approximately 100 seeds. Each plant produces approximatly 1-pound of fresh kohlrabi.


Kohlrabi seed is generally started indoors for the spring garden, but sown directly into the garden for the fall crop. If seed starting indoors, cooler temperatures of 50-70°F are preferred. Under the best conditions, it takes 5-10 days for the Kohlrabi seed to germinate. Seeds should be started 5 weeks before your transplant date.


In order to grow the healthiest; best tasting kohlrabi, the pH level of your garden soil should be 6.0-7.0. A soil tester will take the guess work out of determining the pH levels.

Organic Purple Vienna Kohlrabi Seed produces a colorful, flavorful vegetable with a mild, sweet flavor. Purple Vienna is an heirloom which has purple skin with crisp white flesh. Excellent served raw with dips or grated for salads—also use cooked and stir-fried. Purple Vienna is similar to White Vienna except for its purplish skin and leaves, and slightly larger size. We consider this variety to also be more flavorful and our garden trials have shown it to be more resistant to the cabbage worm. Approximately 100 seeds per packet.
